Eldepryl pill is able to fight Parkinson's disease and symptomatic parkinsonism. The drug can be used as monotherapy in the early stages of Parkinson's disease.
Typically, the initial Eldepryl dosage is 5-10 mg (1-2 tablets) 1-2 times a day (only in the morning or in the morning and in the evening). The drug is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The dosage is prescribed individually by the physician, as well as the duration of the treatment.
Warnings:
The drug is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
extrapyramidal disorders not related to dopamine deficiency (essential tremor, Huntington's chorea);
pregnancy;
breast-feeding.
It is necessary to use with caution: in patients with gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer (including history), with blood pressure lability, tachycardia, severe angina, psychosis, dementia, tardive dyskinesia, large-scale tremor, pheochromocytoma, prostatic hyperplasia (with residual urine), angle-closure glaucoma, age up to 18 years (not enough experience in clinical use).
During Eldepryl medication, patients should refrain from practicing potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and speed of mental and motor responses.
Eldepryl side effects:
skin rash, shortness of breath, bronchospasm.
nausea, dry mouth, decreased appetite, constipation or diarrhea, dysphagia.
orthostatic (postural) hypotension, rarely - increased blood pressure, arrhythmia.
insomnia, dizziness, changes in mood, fatigue, rarely psychosis.
increased activity of hepatic transaminases.
headache, impaired visual acuity, diplopia, and sometimes - hair loss, excessive sweating, hypoglycemia. In the event of any of the symptoms of side effects, you should consult a doctor.
Overdose symptoms: dizziness, headache, psychomotor agitation, convulsions, cardiac arrhythmia, hypertension, hyperthermia, excessive sweating, respiratory depression.
