Cafergot je proprietární název léku, který se skládá z ergotamin tartrátu a kofeinu. Tato kombinace se používá k léčbě cévních bolesti hlavy, jako je migrénová bolest hlavy.
Mechanismus účinku
Příčiny migrény nejsou plně pochopeny, ale dilatace krevních cév v mozku může hrát roli při bolestech hlavy. Ergotamin tartrát a kofein jsou jak vazokonstriktory, tak i látky, které působí k potlačení krevních cév. Migrény mohou také postihnout děti, neboť 1 v 10 je u dětí s nimi diagnostikován.
Nepříznivé účinky
Vzhledem k tomu, že vazokonstrikční účinky ergotaminu a kofeinu nejsou pro mozku selektivní, mohou se objevit nežádoucí účinky způsobené systémovou vazokonstrikcí. Studené nohy nebo ruce, angina pectoris nebo závratě jsou některé příklady.
