Buspar is a buspirone-based antidepressant used for treatment of anxiety disorders, e.g. obsessive-compulsive disorder and social phobia but can also be prescribed for other purposes.
Side effects of Buspar might include:
• diarrhea;
• vomiting;
• tremor;
• anxiety;
• insomnia;
• blurred or impaired vision;
• fever;
• allergic reaction (rare).
To decrease the risk of developing side effects, it is required that your doctor authorized treatment with Buspar if you:
• are allergic or hypersensitive to buspirone or other medications/substances;
• suffer from eye/liver/kidney issues or bipolar disorder;
• are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to have a baby, as Buspar can be absorbed by skin;
• are already taking any prescribed or non-prescription medication.
Buspirone can interact with alcohol, grapefruit juice, haloperidol and rifampicin. Avoid taking them during treatment with Buspar.
Overdose of Buspar can cause the following symptoms: fainting, feeling light-headed; irregular heartbeat; chest pain; nausea. If you develop any of those, inform your doctor immediately.
