The
pills of Gestanin come in round or elongated shapes of white or yellow colors
depending on the manufacturer. Usually, one tablet of Gestanin contains 5 mg of
a plant-based analog of the female hormone progesterone.
Pharmacological
use
Gestanin
is usually taken to correct menstrual irregularities in women or with the
threat of a miscarriage. This is a progestagen agent which stimulates a
secretory phase in the myometrium, creates conditions for the development of a
fertilized egg, it contributes to the preservation of pregnancy. It activates the appearance of the acini
of the mammary glands. Increases fat reserves. It helps the liver accumulate
glycogen and increases glucose utilization. This solution increases the adrenal
gland production of aldosterone. It is well absorbed when it's taken orally,
metabolized in a liver, excreted by the kidneys.
The
leaflet provided with the packing offers basic information on how to use this
medicine. Before use, it is better to discuss the dosage with your physician
and make sure to follow his exact prescriptions.
This
medicine has a set of side effects for health if used any differently from
doctor's orders. Side effects can be various, for example:

From a digestive system: dyspepsia, nausea, cholestatic jaundice;

From a nervous system: headache, depression, insomnia or drowsiness;

From a urinary system: fluid retention, edematous syndrome.
With
threatening preterm birth, the doses and duration of use of Gestanin are set
individually in each case.
