Celebrex is a celecoxib-based non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for treatment of acute pain caused by conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, painful menstruation and menstrual symptoms. Its formula has also been proven to reduce the number of rectum and colon polyps in patients suffering from familial adenomatous polyposis.
Side effects of Celebrex are rare and might include:
• symptoms of allergy, e.g. skin rash, itching, hives;
• headache, nausea or chest pain.
To decrease the risk of developing side effects, it is required that your doctor authorized treatment with Celebrex if you:
• are allergic or hypersensitive to baclofen or any other medications or substances;
• suffer from or have a history of heart/liver/kidney conditions or failures;
• are pregnant or planning to have a baby, as Celebrex may be absorbed by skin;
• have ever taken or are taking any herbal supplements, prescription or non-prescription medications, especially those for blood pressure normalization; aspirin, warfarin, ibuprofen or naproxen-containing ones, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to avoid any unwanted interaction;
• are a smoker or drink alcohol regularly as it is prohibited to do it during treatment with Celebrex.
Overdose of Celebrex may cause severe chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, fainting or feeling extremely light-headed; if there is a possibility you have exceeded or taken a double dose of the medication and then developed the symptoms above, it must be reported to your doctor immediately. Urgent medical help might be required.
